Lucknow: The Thakurganj police have set a remarkable example of humanity by performing the last rites of an 80-year-old homeless man who passed away on the footpath near Faridipur Mod.
The elderly man, who was unidentified, had no family members to conduct his final rites. Upon receiving information from local residents, the police immediately reached the spot, took possession of the body, and took responsibility for the funeral arrangements.
Under the leadership of SHO Thakurganj, Shrikant Rai, and Bhuhar Outpost In-charge, Shubham Tyagi, the police team ensured that the last rites were performed with full rituals at Gullala Ghat.
The noble act by the police has been widely appreciated by the residents of the area, who lauded their efforts in upholding humanity and compassion.
